Boy oh boy, isn’t life the most exciting thing, scary at times, fun at times and then sometimes also a little dark……? But then when that silver lining appears, your world just gets rocked!!
When I am asked the question “How did you get to where you are today?” all I can say is, that it is only by the Grace of God and the support of my family and friends that I am the successful career woman that I am.
When I fell pregnant with our firstborn, my husband kept suggesting that I quit my stressful job as Human Resources Manager, take some time off, help him out with his business, and then go and decide what I REALLY wanted to do. So, I had nine months to ponder these thoughts, and being an invested career woman, leaving my job to become ‘just’ a mom was a very difficult decision to make. At the time I felt worthless, and although our relationship was much better with having less work stress to deal with, I still felt that I had no valuable contribution to make, either to our family or out in the world.
So, I made my decision to become a “stay at home” mom. Looking back now, I would definitely say that I had a bit of PPD. I also think that this type of depression is very easily overlooked, because you are simply seen as a mom who is unable to cope. Depression is very real and should be treated that way!
I sought some professional help, and it wonders for me. After soul searching I decided I wanted to start living my passion: working with people. So I searched and searched and came across The South African Image Company. I enrolled for the course and the rest is history!!!! I completed an advance Makeup Course somewhere in between as well. Then baby number two decided to show up, and there the whole card house fell down again. Luckily with all my resources I got back up again much easier than the first time!!
I firmly believe in this saying and truly stick with it every day: “Get up, Dress up, Show up and Never give up!”
I got up, dressed up (tracksuits can look hot you know), showed up (worked hard) and I will never ever give up on my dream to enhance others and help them become the best version of themselves!!
Both little girls are in Nursery school now, so this MOM as a lot of time to make other mommies feel WOW. Not only moms, but anyone who feels the need to be a better version of themselves, and I would love to help you become that better version!!
Now I live life by the saying: “if you love what you do, you won’t work a day in your life!”
